The Door Is Open | 1949

The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul, which opens into that primeval cosmic night that was soul long before there was a conscious ego and will be soul far beyond what a conscious ego could ever reach.

Vintage Postcard Week: Why Worry? 1949

Why Worry?

There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are well or you are sick.
If you are well, there is nothing to worry about.

If you are sick there are two things to worry about:
Either you will get well or you will die.
If you get well there is nothing to worry about.

If you die there are only two things to worry about:
Either you go to Heaven or to Hell.
If you go to Heaven there is nothing to worry about.

But if you go to Hell you will be so darn busy shaking hands with your friends, you won't have time to worry.

Hollywood Vice Queen Brenda Allen | LA Superior Court, 1948

Brenda Allen is shown with sunglasses and a netted hat as she sits in court. She faced Superior Judge William R. McKay who wanted to bring Ms. Allen face-to-face with policewoman Audre Davis. He had hoped to remove Brenda from jail on the grounds that Ms. Davis had given false testimony during the trial. The policewoman failed to show up on this day.
