Croatian Lunch with Venetian Blinds

A cafe scene in Dubrovnik, 1968.

*Although Venetian blinds are most associated with the corporate office and cubicled work environments of the 20th century, these quiet curtains were first patented in 1760. It is believed that Venetian traders brought the idea from Persia to Venice, and freed Venetian slaves brought the blinds to France, introducing the technology to Western Europe.
