SPECTACLED BIRTHDAY
American playwright and screenwriter Lillian Hellman was born June 20, 1905. Active in anti-fascist and other Communist-led political work in the 1930s and 40s, Hellman's refusal to name names before HUAC led to her blacklisting by Hollywood.
