Aldous Huxley
Spectacled Birthday
The idea that modern society is a dystopia on par with 1984, a mixture of these two books's visions of dystopia present in society today is equally as such, 1984 is fundamnetally a book about social control through authoritarianism, one of winstons many crimes in his world is having sex with Julia, puritanism is inconsistently enforced throughout 1984's world, with proles free yet too stupid to revolt, middle party members whom are subject to puritainism, and the upper class who find small expemptions and abject luxury, meanwhile in brave new world the idea that a man would willingly suffer is considered insane, shame ceases to exist, brave new world is the dystopia of total liberalism, 1984 is entirely a product of Orwell's distaste for the autocratic regime of stalin, and the environment of Britain at the time, and some rather profound understanding about the coming age of the superpower and Britain's fall from world power status.
