Barbara Stanwyck (born Ruby Catherine Stevens; July 16, 1907 – January 20, 1990)
She never lost her Brooklyn accent. That said, she was an effective actress with a surprisingly large range. Her role in Double Indemnity is an absolute corker. She apparently was much liked by everyone she worked with in Hollywood -- which, I think, is saying a lot. She came from a modest family and never forgot her roots.
