The 2001 film based on the comic of the same name (by Daniel Clowes) stars Thora Birch as Enid, a social outcast in her final year of high school. Along with her lifelong friend Rebecca played by Scarlet Johansson the two discuss the trials and tribulations of trying to escape their small unnamed American town. Also starring Steve Buscemi, the film received positive reviews and went on to become something of a cult classic.
