Keith Haring was a successful and popular artist. Haring’s original
and instantly recognizable style, full of thick black lines, bold, bright
colors, and graffiti-inspired cartoon-like figures, won him the
appreciation of both the art world and the general public.
Keith Haring with Andy Warhol, the two artists
painted several canvases that featured headlines about their friend, the
young singer Madonna. This painting based on the
July 9, 1985, New York Post refers to the media frenzy after
nude photographs of Madonna, taken years earlier. Three
works from the collaboration appropriate the metro edition’s headline
“Madonna: ‘I’m Not Ashamed”.
