Keith Haring in Brazil, Myopic Graffiti Artist

Keith Haring was a successful and popular artist. Haring’s original and instantly recognizable style, full of thick black lines, bold, bright colors, and graffiti-inspired cartoon-like figures, won him the appreciation of both the art world and the general public.

Keith Haring with Andy Warhol, the two artists painted several canvases that featured headlines about their friend, the young singer Madonna. This painting based on the July 9, 1985, New York Post refers to the media frenzy after nude photographs of Madonna, taken years earlier. Three works from the collaboration appropriate the metro edition’s headline “Madonna: ‘I’m Not Ashamed”.
